James Li Princeton Death HS Student Dies After NJ Transit Incident – Accident

James Li Accident, Death, Obituary – The Princeton University community is in mourning following the untimely death of first-year student James Li ’27 in an incident involving the Princeton Dinky shuttle at the Faculty Road crossing on February 16. Vice President for Campus Life W. Rochelle Calhoun sent a message to the campus saying that while the incident is being looked into, not much is known at this time.

Sad Occurrence
At 2:15 p.m., James Li was struck and killed by a train traveling toward Princeton Junction. At 2:14 p.m., the train left the University and arrived at Princeton Junction at 2:19 p.m. According to Kyalo Mulumba, senior public information officer for NJ Transit, no injuries were reported involving passengers or crew members. James Li was a new student at Yeh College who was attending Princeton University. Following his Princeton High School graduation, he had a lot of promise for community involvement.

The fact that this is the ninth student death in the last three years highlights the extent to which the Princeton University community has been impacted by this loss. Following the regrettable incident, Faculty Road between Alexander Street and the Elm Drive Circle was closed due to police activity, and the University community was informed via email via TigerAlert. The Graduate School, the residential colleges, the Office of Religious Life, and Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) have all contributed materials and assistance.
