Sylvia Roseen Obituary, Resident Of Albany Has Sadly Passed Away

Sylvia Roseen Obituary, Death – Sylvia Louise Milton Roseen, affectionately known as Sissie, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the age of 90 in Albany. Her life was marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for her family and community. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Sissie’s journey was one of compassion, involvement, and cherished memories.

 Early Years and Education

Sissie was born to Sallie and Roland Thomas, and her formative years were spent in Jacksonville. She attended Robert E. Lee High School before pursuing her passion for nursing at the Jackson Memorial School of Nursing in Miami. These early experiences laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to caring for others.

 A Lifetime of Service

Sissie’s impact extended far beyond her professional endeavors. She dedicated numerous years to volunteer services at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where her compassion touched the lives of many. Her involvement in the Charity League, culminating in her presidency in 1991, exemplified her unwavering dedication to philanthropy and community betterment.

In 2011, Sissie achieved a milestone as the first female exalted ruler of the Elk’s Lodge, breaking barriers and inspiring others with her leadership. Her long-standing membership at Covenant Presbyterian Church underscored her spiritual devotion and commitment to her faith community.

A Love for Life’s Joys

Despite her many responsibilities, Sissie knew how to embrace life’s simple pleasures. She had a passion for dancing and cherished moments spent with her beloved friends, affectionately referred to as her Ya Ya’s. Whether at the Elk’s Lodge, Moose, or V.F.W., Sissie found joy in the camaraderie of social gatherings and the rhythm of music.

 Cherished Family Bonds

Sissie’s greatest source of joy was her family. While she endured the loss of her parents, husbands Virgil Milton and Bob Roseen, as well as sons Todd and Chip Milton, her love for her surviving family members remained unwavering. She is survived by her son Jay Milton and wife Heidi, daughter Missie Brock and husband Brent, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life.

 Farewell to a Beloved Community Member

As we bid farewell to Sylvia Louise Milton Roseen, we honor her legacy of service, love, and resilience. Her kindness, generosity, and indomitable spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory continue to inspire acts of compassion and kindness in our community.

Visitation to celebrate Sissie’s life will be held at Kimbrell-Stern on Monday, February 26, from 5-7 pm, followed by a funeral service at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, February 27, at 11 am. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Willson Hospice House or Covenant Presbyterian Church in honor of Sissie’s memory.
