The crowning achievement came in 1972 when Joe led his team to a State and NE title, culminating in a memorable appearance at the American Legion World Series in Memphis, TN.

Mattei Endowed Scholarship for Baseball at Quinnipiac University, a fitting tribute to a man whose passion for the game knew no bounds.
