Esther Brown Obituary, Death -Esther Lucille Brown, born on June 6, 1997 in Lincoln, Nebraska parents James and Catherine Brown, passed away on February 2, 2024. Esther had training in piano and voice, played basketball, participated in the Academic Decathlon, and eagerly participated in school plays and community musicals during her early childhood. She graduated from Pius X High School in 2015 and then began her studies at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California, to continue her acting career.

During her time in San Francisco, Esther studied Sanford Meisner’s technique under the guidance of professors Peter Lewis and Anthony Montes, and also attended singing lessons taught by Cynthia Baggot and Deb Eubanks. She was taught improvisation by Karen Hirst from Second City. She landed the part of Margot in Legally Blonde: The Musical, directed by Clark Lewis, at Sutter Theatre, and has starred in multiple films in the city.

She worked on the short film “Freekick,” directed by JP Diaz, which was selected to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival. Upon reaching Los Angeles, she honed her skills by training with Andrew Benne, Irene Muzzy, Fran Montano, and Peter Wise. Esther was nominated for Best Actress for her role in Out of Love at the 2022 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, gaining notoriety. Out of Love received nominations for Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress.

The prizes for Best Student Film and Best African Female Filmmaker were received. Esther’s deceased grandparents are Gardner Laurence Brown, Janelle Darice Brown, Franklin Jerry Landis, Elizabeth Anne (Connely) Landis, and step-grandmother Barbara Landis. Esther is survived by her parents, James Henry Brown and Catherine Anne Landis Brown, her siblings Dr. Krista Anne Brown, Jennifer Anne Brown,

James Gardner Brown, Audrey Megan (Green) Brown, and Judith Darice Brown, as well as other aunts, uncles, and cousins. The Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. John Catholic Church, 7601 Vine Street, Lincoln. A Rosary session will take place before the Mass at 10:00 am. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 20th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln.
