Born on February 20, 1947, to Jack B. Carlisle and Virginia Dare Patterson Carlisle, Jackie’s journey was marked by love, adventure, and creativity.

 A Love Story That Spanned a Lifetime

Jackie’s life intersected with destiny when she met a dashing Naval ROTC cadet at the University of Mississippi. Little did she know that this encounter would blossom into a lifelong love story. On December 19, 1969, Jackie exchanged vows with her soulmate, Steven Roy Evans. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with devotion, resilience, and unwavering support for each other.

Following their graduation from Ole Miss, Steve’s service in the US Navy took them on a voyage across the nation. True to his promise, Steve ensured that they would settle in the town of Jackie’s choosing. Eventually, they found solace and tranquility in the picturesque town of Blairsville, GA, nestled amidst the enchanting Blue Ridge Mountains. Here, they built their dream home, where Jackie found inspiration in the natural splendor that surrounded her.

The Artist’s Touch: Jackie’s Creative Spirit

Jackie’s artistic talents were evident from an early age. With a keen eye for detail and an innate passion for creativity, she honed her skills as a gifted artist. Initially focusing on portraiture, Jackie’s talent evolved over the years, encompassing a diverse range of subjects. Reunited with her grandparents, Snowflake Bowie Patterson, William Fancher Patterson, Joseph Benjamin Carlisle, and Joanna Tomlinson Carlisle, as well as her mother, Virginia Carlisle, her father, Jack Carlisle, and her sister, Virginia Ann Carlisle, Jackie’s spirit found solace in their embrace.

Though she bid farewell to this world, Jackie’s memory lives on in the hearts of those she cherished. She is survived by her beloved husband, Steve; her devoted children, Christopher Scott Evans and Leslie Carlisle Evans; her brother, William Thomas Carlisle; her grandchildren, William Trotter Evans and Silas Evan Trahan; and a multitude of nieces and nephews, each carrying a piece of her legacy forward.

 Honoring Jackie’s Life

The life of Mary Jacquelyn Carlisle Evans will be celebrated in a funeral service at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the service, visitation will be held, offering friends and family an opportunity to pay their respects and share fond memories of Jackie’s remarkable journey.
