Born on April 30, 1943, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Clyde and Betty McGinn Evans, Johnny’s life was marked by his commitment to his country, his family, and his community.

 A Life of Service: From the Army National Guard to AEP

Johnny Lynn Evans dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country. As a proud Army National Guard veteran, he exemplified bravery, honor, and patriotism throughout his service. Following his military tenure, Johnny transitioned to civilian life, where he spent six years working on the river before embarking on a remarkable 36-year career with AEP. His unwavering work ethic and dedication to excellence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

 Devotion to Family: A Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather

At the core of Johnny’s life was his devotion to his family. He shared a deep and enduring bond with his wife, Karen Richards Evans, whom he married on July 21, 1967. Johnny’s love extended to his children, George “Richie” Evans and Kimberly Sue Evans, whom he nurtured and supported throughout their lives. He found immense joy in the role of grandfather to his granddaughter, Georgia Noah Evans, and took great pride in watching his family grow. Despite the demands of his career, Johnny always made time for his loved ones, ensuring that they felt cherished and supported in all their endeavors.

 Honoring a Life Well-Lived: Funeral Services and Military Tributes

As the community mourns the loss of Johnny Lynn Evans, funeral services will be held to celebrate his remarkable life and pay tribute to his enduring legacy. On Monday, February 26, 2024, friends, family, and community members will gather at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth to honor Johnny’s memory. Pastor Tom Williams will officiate the service, guiding attendees through moments of reflection and remembrance. Following the service, Johnny will be laid to rest in McKendree Cemetery, where he will receive military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion, honoring his service to his country. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, from 5 to 7:00 PM, and on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral.
