Donald’s life was marked by his dedicated service to his country, his impactful career as an educator and coach, and his numerous contributions to his community.

Donald’s commitment to serving his country was exemplary. As a Navy SEAL, he bravely completed two tours in Vietnam, demonstrating courage and valor in the face of adversity. His bravery earned him accolades including the Purple Heart and the Navy Accommodation Medal for Valor, testament to his selflessness and dedication to duty. Donald’s service in the military shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism that he carried throughout his life.

 Educator, Coach, and Mentor

Following his military service, Donald embarked on a career as a teacher and swim coach at Burlington High School. As a Hall of Fame swim coach, he not only imparted invaluable skills but also instilled in his athletes the values of discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship. His impact extended far beyond the pool, leaving an indelible mark on generations of young people.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Donald was deeply committed to serving his community. He volunteered his time and expertise to various organizations, including the Rotary Club, the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, and the VFW, where he served as a past commander of Post 620. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Donald on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024, at the Barile Family Funeral Home in Stoneham. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, March 1st, 2024, at Glenwood Cemetery in Everett. These gatherings offer an opportunity to celebrate Donald’s life, honor his legacy, and find solace in the embrace of community and loved ones.
