Early Life and Family:
Dr. John P. Blackburn (Donna) of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Winfrey P. Blackburn of Frankfurt, Kentucky, preceded David in death. His spouse of fifty-two years, Nashville, Tennessee’s Kay Blackburn, survives him. With his daughter Carol Blackburn Brons (Brian Brons) and his cherished grandchildren Scott and Anna Grace Brons of Brentwood, Tennessee, David leaves a long-lasting legacy.
Education and Siblings:
His brothers, Winfrey P. Blackburn, Jr. of Louisville, KY, and Dr. James E. Blackburn (Pat) of Lynchburg, Virginia, also survive him. David’s quest for knowledge brought him to the graduation of Rome, Georgia’s Shorter College. He continued his studies at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he graduated with a master’s degree in business.

David was a devoted follower of Forest Hills Baptist Church, and he lived a life centered around his beliefs. His dedication to his religion and community was a reflection of the principles that had led him on his path.
