After graduating from Rosendale High School in 1959, she pursued her higher education at the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh, where she earned her bachelor’s degree.

In 1963, Sandra exchanged vows with Gerald “Jerry” William Otto Martens at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Van Dyne. Their union was blessed with four children: Scott, Richard, Matthew, and Kristyn. Sandra and Jerry moved to Mequon, WI, where they embarked on their journey of love and family.
