Gary Nate Obituary Ogden, UT, Former Warren Miller Films Cinematographer And Skier Has Died

Gary Nate Obituary, Death – Gary Charles Nate, a lifelong explorer, skier, and cameraman for Warren Miller Films, died on February 15, 2024, at his Ogden home, still wearing his ski gear, following one more amazing day of skiing. Gary was born in Ogden, Utah, on June 8, 1937, to Charles Henry Nate and Sarah Bradshaw. After playing football at Ogden High School, where he excelled, he went on to play running back at the University of Utah.

After an injury wrecked his scholarship funds, Gary worked for the train, as a recruiter at Hill Air Force Base, and as a school teacher for a period. However, he always brought his skis with him in case he was able to flee to the mountains. “As I gained more experience, my ideas about how to ski more expanded. How am I supposed to interpret this freedom? And the camera is basically what allowed me to pursue it,” he said.
