Samuel Gerhardstein Obituary, Death – Venice, FL – Samuel E. “Sam” Gerhardstein, age 68, passed away on February 12, 2024, after bravely battling a stroke and pancreatic cancer. His life was a testament to service, adventure, and unwavering dedication to his community and country. Born on January 6, 1956, in Bellevue, OH, Sam’s journey was marked by service from an early age.

A Scholar and Advocate:  Sam’s thirst for knowledge led him to Bowling Green State University, where he earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degree. His career spanned various roles, from legislative aide to impactful positions in government agencies and private industry. Notably, his tenure as Director of Governmental Affairs at Columbia Gas saw him play a pivotal role in shaping Ohio’s natural gas regulatory landscape. Following his graduation from Bellevue High School in 1974, where he distinguished himself as a scholar and athlete, Sam served with honor in the US Air Force from 1974 to 1978.

A Life Well Lived: Beyond his professional achievements, Sam was a man of diverse passions. From his love of Lake Erie to his dedication to family and community, he embraced life with zest. Visitation to celebrate Sam’s life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Foos & Foos Funeral Service in Bellevue, Ohio, followed by a veterans’ ceremony to honor his service to the nation. Sam’s indomitable spirit, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
