Roy Stebbings Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Roy Stebbings on Friday, 9th February 2024. At the age of 88, Roy bid farewell to this world, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of warmth and kindness. Following his military service, Roy found his calling as an HGV driver, a role he fulfilled with diligence until his retirement from Norweb in 1994.
A Life of Dedication: Roy, beloved husband of Margaret, devoted father to Ian and Paul, and proud grandfather of Elizabeth and Alicia, lived a life marked by dedication and service. His journey began with humble origins, leaving school to embark on his National Service and later serving in the Territorial Army for a decade. Roy’s retirement didn’t mark the end of his involvement in the workforce; rather, it was a new chapter of service. Joined by his sons Paul and Robin, Roy became an indispensable member of System Hygiene Ltd. His expertise in carpentry and DIY, coupled with his unwavering work ethic, made him a valued handyman and delivery driver for nearly 25 years.
A Friend to All: Beyond his professional contributions, Roy’s affable nature endeared him to all who crossed his path. He forged lasting friendships within the System Hygiene community, brightening every occasion with his presence. Whether it was the annual Christmas party or a casual gathering, Roy could always be found with a pint of lager in hand, radiating warmth and cheer. Even at the age of 85, Roy remained dedicated to his role until the onset of the Covid pandemic in 2020.
A Final Farewell: Roy’s funeral will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, 21st February 2024, at Accrington Crematorium. All who knew and cherished Roy are invited to join in bidding him a fond farewell. Following the service, refreshments will be served at The Peel Park Hotel, offering an opportunity to reminisce and celebrate the life of a remarkable man. In Roy’s memory, let us carry forward the values of dedication, kindness, and camaraderie that defined his life. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to inspire us always.
