Lowell Gayheart Obituary, Death – Lowell W. Gayheart, age 82, of Shelby, OH, departed this world on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at OhioHealth Shelby, surrounded by his loving family. A man deeply devoted to his faith, Lowell’s journey on earth has transitioned into a glorious reunion with his Savior, Jesus Christ, and departed loved ones. Born on November 19, 1941, in Martin, Kentucky, to Johnny and Gladys Gayheart, Lowell spent over five decades as a cherished resident of Shelby.
A Career of Dedication and Passion: Lowell dedicated 32 years of his life as an electrician at General Motors before retiring in 1996. His commitment extended beyond his professional life, as he was ordained as a minister by the IPCC in 1981. For over four decades, he served as assistant minister alongside Reverend Art Kennard at the Maranatha Christian Center in Shelby, touching countless lives with his faith and compassion. Beyond his professional and spiritual endeavors, Lowell found joy in cultivating a vibrant vegetable garden and restoring classic antique cars. He was an avid supporter of Cleveland sports and the Shelby Whippets, displaying unwavering loyalty to the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Family and Community: Lowell’s enduring legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia Gayheart, their three children, Christopher, Monica (Dave), and Denice (Paul), as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Georgia (Ken) Barnett, and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives. In his youth, Lowell reveled in the exhilaration of basketball, a passion that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Final Farewell and Contributions: Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service, officiated by Reverend Art Kennard, will immediately follow at 11:00 AM, with interment at Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
