Benny shared his life with Betty Lynn Causey, whom he married on January 20, 1961, in Campbell, MO.

He was an active member of the Sunnyvale General Baptist Church in Malden, MO, and Four Mile Masonic Lodge #212 in Campbell, MO. His service continued as an Army Mortuary Civilian in Vietnam.
